Obituary of Richard George Nichols Sr.

Richard George Nichols Sr., 88, of Hudson FL passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 26, 2021. Richard was born on June 20, 1933 in Brooklyn, NY to Clyde Sr. and Gertrude. After graduating from Westinghouse Trade School he went to work as a Power Maintainer for the New York City Transit Authority for 32 years. Eventually he retired to sunny Florida. Richard met his one true love Carol Thomasina Malone and married her on May 20, 1951 who, after 57 years of a wonderful life together, preceded him in death on June 28, 2008. They are loved by their three children, Lynn Halligan (Luke), Richard Nichols Jr.(Margaret), and Debra Lindiakos (Eleftherios). He is also preceded in death by 5 siblings, and survived by his caring brother Brian, adoring niece Elizabeth, 8 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. In addition to caring for his garden and swimming in his pool, Richard enjoyed getting out and socializing. He was a great organizer who held various board positions in his computer clubs, the American Legion, and Polish American Club where he enjoyed cutting the rug doing the Lindy, and enjoying a good Polka with his loving friend Helen. There will be a viewing and funeral service on Thursday July 1, 2021 2-5PM at Prevatt Funeral Home, CR-52 Hudson FL. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
