Obituary of Michael T Leneghan

Michael Thomas Leneghan Sr., 82 passed away peacefully Sunday, July 12, 2020 during a short stay in Bayonet Point Hospital in Hudson, FL. Relatives and friends are invited for the visitation on Friday, July 17, from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM. at the Prevatt Funeral Home 7709 State Road 52, Hudson, FL. The funeral service will be Saturday July 18 at 9:30 AM at St Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 8014 State Road 52, Hudson, FL. Mike was born September 20, 1937 to Anthony and Bridget (Garvin) Leneghan in Co Mayo, Ireland, and was the youngest of ten children. He arrived in Philadelphia in 1947, graduated from Father Judge HS, served in the United States Air Force and then went on to earn his associate’s degree at night from the University of Pennsylvania while also working for Smith Kline and French. He later earned his Bachelor’s degree at night from LaSalle University. On November 11, 1961 he married the love of his life Marie Gallagher in Philadelphia, PA. A job with Exxon brought the family to Flanders, NJ where he lived for over 21 years. He was active in the community, enjoyed coaching football and was a Eucharist minister at both St. Lawrence and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parishes. He retired to Hudson, FL in 1995 after a short stay in Texas. Mike is survived by his loving wife Marie (Gallagher); along with three sons, Michael his wife Pam; James, and Daniel; as well as six grandchildren who he thoroughly loved and enjoyed; Michael, Shannon, Matthew, Sarah; Kathleen and Daniel. He is also survived by his two brothers John (Mayo, Ireland) and Anthony (Philadelphia, PA); many nieces and nephews along with countless other family and friends. Mike enjoyed the simple things in life. He could always be found reading the paper, especially the sports section, and always keeping up with world news. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He also enjoyed college football and was always looking for a game to wager on. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Mike was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to everyone.
