To the family, my heartfelt condolences for your loss. Please find comfort in the knowledge that soon God will wipe out every tear from our eyes, and “death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”(Rev. 21:3,4) May this promise give you comfort now and a real hope for the future. My deepest sympathies.

Although I didn’t get to see him very often because we never lived near any of the extensive Haugh clan, it was always special and fun when we got together. Uncle Jim was always so obviously happy to see family, especially his brothers. I love seeing those pictures posted on this remembrance page of him and my dad. The Haugh family connections are strong and that was passed down to all of the cousins. My sister Judy and I are planning to be in Florida next week and we were looking forward to seeing Uncle Jim and Aunt Linda. We’ll still check in with Aunt Linda but will miss seeing Uncle Jim. Last time we were there was two years ago. As for stories...one thing I remember about Uncle Jim was that he was very set in his culinary likes and dislikes. When he came to dinner at my house in Virginia many, many years ago, he didn’t like whatever I had fixed. So I warmed up some leftover (meatloaf, I think) in my fridge for him. And that was okay. I understood because I am, sorry to say, a bit picky myself. Uncle Jim has so many people who will miss him always. But he left a legacy through his family, friends and service.

Besides great early memories of Uncle Jim's visits to New York and he and his boys joining Pop and all the grandkids going to Palisades Amusement Park, I so enjoyed visiting Uncle Jim and Aunt Linda in FL in 2006 for a few days. This was the first time I saw Uncle Jim in action on the golf course and he was so generous letting me take multiple attempts to make contact with the ball; we laughed so hard. We also had a lot of laughs when I thought he was pulling my leg when he pointed out one of my balls landing in a sand trap and just missed hitting an alligator strolling across the course. I don't think Uncle Jim, a multiple-hole in-one golfer, ever told a soul what a terrible golfer I was, but proudly introduced his exhausted, dehydrated 46-year old, 24 year his junior niece to his friends at the golf course restaurant after finishing our gator-visting golf game!
